“Would we stay here again?”

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa

3 of 5 stars
North East England
Aug 20, 2008

Our family of four stayed in a 3 bed, 2 bath condo for two weeks in early August. This was our fourth visit to Orlando in the last five years and we could compare our stay to our holidays in a villa with pool, in resort at the Portofino Bay Hotel and at the Crowne Plaza.
The blocks are impressive from the outside and the complex is very well located. Check in was quick, easy & friendly and we were allocated to Building 5. Our room on the fifth floor was virtually brand new and when we walked in we all smiled - until we looked over the balcony and saw the cement mixers, cranes and other construction materials surrounding the unfinished Pirates pool. Our friends had already arrived in the resort earlier in the week and when we contacted them to say we'd arrived and which room we were in, they let us know that they had been allocated to the exact same room on arrival and had complained on the second morning because of the construction work going at all hours (our friend has video footage of work being done at 4am!!).
We asked to be moved but were told that there were no other rooms available because it was the weekend and the hotel was at full capacity. Other guests who had checked in at the same time as us and who had been allocated to the same building had been a bit quicker and were moved straight away so it wasn't that we were being overly picky. We were given an alternative room overlooking the smaller pool the following evening.
Our second condo in building 2 was not as new but it was clean and tidy. Everything was in working order and there was everything we needed. There was a lively buzz of children playing at the pool each day which is exactly what we expected but what was less pleasant was the noise from the pool in the middle of the night (3am!) on a couple of occasions from adults. The pool was very small and the Pirate Pool was far from finished on our arrival - though closer to completion when we left!
We found some good places to eat close by (five minutes or less in the car) including Perkins for breakfast, Red Lobster (our favourite this time), Chilis, Lone Star and Pizzeria Uno for dinner. A tiny bit further afield we enjoyed Tony Roma's and The Outback.
What did we like best? The location, being able to do the washing & drying (sad but necessary with two teenagers!), approachable & professional staff.
What did we like least? the unfinished Pirates Pool.
Would we stay here again? Only if all of the glitches had been ironed out - the complex is still new and is still suffering from some teething troubles

“Good place to stay”

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa

Aug 20, 2008

This is a condo resort near all the Orlando attractions. The unit we stayed in was two bedrooms with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. The unit was generally clean and had a view of Sea World's fireworks every night. The master bedroom and bath were large and well appointed with a jacuzzi. There were a couple of problems with the building. The buildings main door did not lock as it was supposed to allowing numerous local pizza shops, etc. to wander the halls daily dropping off advertisements under each door. The parking at the resort on the weekends was difficult and at times very inconvenient. The resort was convenient to the attractions and tearby stores including a Wal-mart about a mile away. The resort has a pool and seems to be planning to open a water park with a lazy river, etc sometime soon. Overall a decent place to stay and fairly reasonable. The staff at the front desk was responsive and for the most part knowledgable about the concerns we raised. The resort also has attached an outlet shopping center, a spa (which we did not use), and a very good irish pub (which we did go to).

“Excellent Hotel - well worth a visit”

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa

Firstly I must say what a fabulous place Florida is, we had an absolute ball. The hotel is excellent, we couldn't of ask for more. All the staff were friendly and the reception staff were very helpful on the few occasions that we did use them. Our room was 2 bedroomed and was massive. You never think that rooms will be as good as they look in the brochure, but this was better, in fact I didn't want to come home. I have never done so much washing in 2 weeks!! The rooms had TV's in each room, which pleased my kids no end, big walk in wardrobes and the jacuzzi bath was fab. The only thing missing for us was an oven tray but we made do. The site was very quiet and is in a great location being 10-20 mins away from Disney, Seaworld, International Drive, Univeral and the interstates. The hotel is a stones throw away from the new outlet mall which has new shops opening all the time. The onsite shop is well stocked but there is a Walmart literally 2 mins down the road and that is definitely well worth a trip to stock up. The irish pub is well worth a visit too, the food is lovely and the staff are really friendly with a great atmosphere. The only thing that let us down was the pirate ship pool not being ready and I doubt it will be by this time next year unless they get a move on. The existing pool is very small but my kids (12 & 9) still loved it and it was extremely clean as was the rest of the hotel.

All in all I would stay in this hotel again without a doubt, in fact I would go back tomorrow. It really is fantastic value for money, in a fab location.

“Great place to stay”

Lake Buena Vista Resort Village & Spa

3 of 5 stars
Scotland
Aug 18, 2008

Just returned after two week stay at the Lake Buena Vista Resort. What a great time we had. The hotel was perfect, spacious and clean. The master bedroom was huge, with a big jacuzzi bath in it which the kids loved. The kitchen is well equiped with a dishwasher, microwave, American fridge/freezer and a washer/dryer which was great for washing through your clothes, so dont take a lot with you, we never wore half the clothes we had. The only thing I would complain about is having to pay an additional $15 per week if you wont a basic clean or $30 per week for a full clean, and when I say basic it is basic, we went for the $30. I think this should be included in the price of your stay. They have a games room which my boys loved (6 and 12) a shop which is open until 2am in the morning, I found this very handy, great pizza. Frankie Farrell’s Irish Pub was also handy for a quick drink and a bite to eat, the staff were very freindly. The pool was a bit small and cold, but my boys never complained. They just opened a new pool with a pirate ship plunge on our last day, which was a bit dissapointing, however it looks great. The hotel is idealy situated for all parks, the closest being Disney only about a 10min drive. The LBV outlet shops accross the road was handy to, get great bargains on trainers. For the size of the hotel which has 5 block was very well maintaned and piecefull, most folk are out at the parks all day. If you want to be next to the new pool, try booking block 3,4, or 5 as 1 and 2 are accross the road. Would I return, absolutely.

We stayed here for 2 weeks with kids aged 11 and 12. We usually stay in villas so the accommodation seemed very average. Beds were comfy. Kitchen very small with not much workspace for making sandwiches etc. Swimming pool overcrowded and sometimes very noisy at night in the first week. By the second week they seemed to be controlling night time swimmers situation. Swimming pool area was not where we spent much time due to it not being a very inviting area and unsupervised kids running round pool. New pool nowhere near ready. Pizza Hut not impressive. Location is excellent. We will not stay here again.
