Just returned from Club West (played Sat. Feb 8, 2003).Who am I? A golfer that golfs on a local low end course in Southeast Michigan. I play once a week in a league, but rarely other times. Typically I play 9 holes and rarely 18. I have played a few nice courses in the area, The Fortress in Frankenmuth, Stonebridge in Saline/Ann Arbor, and Manistee National. I average about 47 for 9. What I liked about Club West: It was reasonably close to the airport, about 30 minutes (if you're from Michigan, you describe distance in minutes!). It was also very easy to get to, I-10 South to Chandler, turn right and straight to the course. The course is in great shape, my compliments to the grounds keeping staff. The course is tight, but open. It is difficult, but not impossible. Not a ton of pine trees to catch your ball like in Michigan. The back 9 has some great scenery. There are some tees that are up high and you shoot to the green below and you can see the mountains and surrounding valley. One hole you shoot down to the green, but there are two to choose from. We choose the farther of the two and it was pretty tough.I was playing golf in February!!! We had an 8am tee time on a Saturday. Started out about 60, but by the middle of the back 9 it was 75 and sunny. I ended up with a mild sunburn! It wasn't very crowded, either they have a good starter system or it wasn't real busy. I did notice quite a few people waiting to tee off when we did, but no one was pushing us. They must just have a good system. The carts are awesome! I know other courses have this type of cart, but a 10-12" screen that shows the hole and and distance from the cart is incredible technology. I am in a technology oriented field and still find it amazing. There is even a 1 line text display on the back of the roof, by your clubs to tell you how far to the pin. We even pre-ordered lunch from the screen and it was ready at the turn. What didn't I like:Can't think of a thing to say, great place.Overall, I would recommend it to anyone. I had a great time.
