“Stay Away !!”

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place. It's such a shame that someone would build such a beautifull hotel and then manage it by a bunch of pompous idiots !
Just got back from a 3 week vacation where we spent a few nights in Buenos Aires and thanks to Trip Advisor comments we decided not to stay at the Faena property and opted for the Park Hyatt (thank god!!) The Faena looked so cool but had such bad reviews that we decided not to stay there but were recomended to go and see their tango show. I made my reservations for four people 3 nights in advance and was charged a deposit on my credit card but when we showed up for the show the girl who had made my reservation screwed it up and had given away our table.
Whith out even an appology we were told that we coul come back the next day but that was our last night in BA so we decided to stay for drinks at their "Library" bar. When walking in we are now told by another hosstes with that terrible attitude that Argentinians seem to have around the world but not while in Argentina (except at the Faena) and we are told that there is a minimum consumption of $300 USD per table, after telling her that we were there because of their mistake she still would not give us a table so I asked to speak to the manager who ended up giving us a table. 3 hours, 4 bottles of champagne and about $500 dollars later the same hostess comes to our table and tells us that we have to move because it was reserved !!!
By now I exploded , called the manager whom offered us to share the table with the three 20 year old guys who had reserved it for which we paid, left and swore never to go back.
I have to say that Buenos Aires is an incredible city with world class restaurants, clubs and shopping and our only bad experience was our night at the Faena.

“Unique and Beautiful”

We had a fantastic time at this hotel. We are hotel snobs and this is one of the best hotels we've ever stayed in (In Argentina, we also loved Cavas). We loved the Philippe Stark design, it was a little out there (especially the all white unicorn dining room) but incredibly creative. High thread count, comfortable beds, an amazing breakfast buffet. It was also close to the Casa Rosa and many good restaurants. Two thumbs way up!

    • Disliked — They overcharged us. They put us in the wrong room when we first got there and then offered a free upgrade, but in the end they didn't notate it was a free upgrade and charged us for it. It felt a little odd, just wanted to give you a "heads up."

I stay at the Faena last week and it was a real disaster! It seems they change management or something happened, but the Hotel was empty half closed nobody did care about us, lots of noise, a real shame, we use to stay at least twice a year and it was phenomenal?

“trendy but tacky”

Faena Hotel + Universe

This place is a real disappointment - superficially hip and trendy, but it frankly comes apart in your hands, literally in the case of the cheap plasticy furniture and light fittings in the brick walled rooms. This is a converted warehouse and feels like it.

The location really is important to note. I know BA well so was quite pleased to be there, but for a newcomer it would give the wrong impression of the city.

Food/service in the restauarnt was weak.

On a positive note - Front desk/concierge, very friendly and hip.

“Very stylish but overpriced”

Faena Hotel + Universe

I stayed here for one night at the end of a 10 day trip spent in mostly mid priced boutique hotels. The hotel is beautiful and so are most of the staff/guests, but it doesn't seem to have that BA feeling that some other hotels do in the city. Felt like I was in LA or maybe more like Miami(which I realize is the idea), lots of nice if overpriced restaurants in the redeveloped area, but not a cool bario like some (many) others in BA.

Bottom line for this price stay somewhere else.
