Where to begin...Bora Bora was everything we imagined a tropical paradise would be. From the minute we arrived to Bora Bora we were treated like royalty. In the airport representatives of the Bora Bora Pearl Beach resort took our suitcases and escorted us onto the hotels private water taxi. After a 10 minute boat ride over we arrived at The resort which is located on it's own private island (motu). We were presented with a lei and brought into the hotel reception area and served tropical fruit beverages while checking in.
We highly reccommend staying in the premium over water bungalows which is what we had the pleasure of staying in for 6 nights. Though pricey( approx: $600 US) per night, they are well worth spending the money. The room was spacious and we really loved the nighly turn down service. The coffee table and bedside tables both opened up to the ocean below for viewing and feeding. The room had a rustic but elegant feel. The only drawback besides price was that the bed was hard and not very comfortable. Views from our bungalow were breathtaking both day and night. The deck and lower deck which had direct access by ladder on our bungalow made it very easy to go for a swim.
The food in Bora Bora was excellent but do expect to pay top prices even for breakfast. Breakfast runs approx $70 US for 2 people, Lunch approx $60 US for 2 and dinner approx. $120-$200 US depending on how many courses you order. One restaurant we would reccommend on the main island of Bora bora is called Blood Mary's because we mostly dined at the 2 restaurants at the resort. The first restuarant is called Ambrosia which serves good Italian inspired cuisine and does require a reservation. We can't remember the second restaurants name but their food was excellent too. We highly recommend hitting happy hour from 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm each night at Miki Miki bar at the resort, where cocktails are 2 for 1 and the little appetizers are excellent.
Activities we choose to do while in Bora Bora are as follows:
- Jet Ski Excursion at tje resort
The excursion provided a tour of the whole island as well as a surprise stop on a Motu where we had fresh fruits and learned how to properly open a coconut.
- Buggy rental on main island
This was a great way to see the main island in it's entirety from an open air buggy. Basically, it was a dune buggy without a windshield or side windows. They go about 40 miles per hour but you have to be careful because islanders like to drive just as fast. Keep and eye on your rearview mirror.
- Manea Spa at the resort
We choose to get a couples massage for 50 minutes. This was great because my wife and I were right next to each other as we both melted into the table because of the wonderful full body message we both received. The staff was helpful and friendly.
- Snorkeling & Windsurfing at the resort
Both activities are complimentary and easily accessible pool side. Both are a great way to enjoy the island without having to pay a cent.
In conclusion the trip was amazing and the resort was even better. We hope to make it back someday soon.
