“The Smokey Trump Dump”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

1 of 5 stars
Mantua, NJ
Aug 17, 2008

My husband and I stayed at this hotel/casino because we were seeing a comedy show there. As soon as we entered the lobby we were overwhelmed by cigarette smoke. If you are a smoker you will love this place. There are more smoking areas in the slot machines than there are non-smoking and they don't even matter since people smoke in the non-smoking sections. We have been to many of the Atlantic City Casinos and have NEVER had this experience. We barley even gambled--then went outside to escape the smoke.

The room looked good online and the sleeping/sitting area was OK. The bathroom on the other hand was terrible. There was mold in between the tiles of the shower, Some unknown red substance on the bath mat and shaving cream adherent to the shower curtain. The sink had dirt around the edges and the floor did not look clean. Several of the towels had brown stains on them and I had to exchange them with the maid. Also, the walls of the hotel are very thin--every time someone walked down the hall they woke us up. We usually sleep in at hotels--but this time I got up at 7:00 wore my sandals in the shower and then got out of there.

After our terrible experience I found out there is a shuttle between the casinos at the marina. Next time we go for a show we will stay at the Borgata and take the shuttle over.

“Rooms are ok but the rest is sad”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

Aug 10, 2008

The rooms were fine but the hotel service and attitude is really bad! The worst of all is trying to get food after 10pm -- we got to the hotel a little after 10pm and everything was closed on a Thursday night! The only thing open was Hooters, Pretzel place, and a cafeteria where we had to wait for over an hour to get served! Just horrible!!!!!

We got our room through Hotwire, which claimed that it was in walking distance to the beach... they must have meant the bay. That was disappointing in itself. Upon arrival to the hotel, the staff was very friendly. As a non-gambler (what was I doing there?) I looked at other aspects of the hotel. The pool was nice. But the room fell short. It tried to be updated with modern furniture, but failed when it came to the bathroom. The fixtures were old, and my biggest complaint was that there was a lot of hair laying around. Not too clean for my standards. Oh wait, that's not my biggest complaint... that would have to be the thin walls. Very noisy! I woke up at 3am to the sounds of laughing and coughing.. not a good nights sleep. The price was great though. $89 through Hotwire. However, I'd rather pay more money and reap the benefits.

“Very nice stay with Trump Marina”

Stayed here in July on the 11th floor, the staff was very friendly doing the check in. First impression of the lobby was it seemed a little old, definitely from another time, but still clean.

The room was very surprising on the other hand, looked very new, stylish decor and very clean. The bathroom wasn't old looking either and I had no problems with water pressure.

On the 5th floor they have a "recreational deck" where you can play basketball, tennis and such, but you also get a very cool view of Borgata right across the busy street, Harrah's to the right with their new, cool tower that displays animations and the boardwalk skyline to the left.

The pool was always busy with people, but the casino and public areas were always a bit empty. Mostly an older crowd here.

Not too many dining options, there's the buffet, but I ate at The Cafe which was very nice. There's also a Hooters and Auntie Anne's.

Overall, Trump Marina seems to be the cheapest in the marina district and it's a great deal for what you're getting. Sign up for the Trump card for free parking, same for Harrah's or you can walk there since there's a walkway from Trump Marina.

“Friendly”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

Jul 21, 2008

What Trump Marina lacks is modernization. The Casino is stuck in 1977 and the lack of restaurants/buffets is terrible. The few restaurants it holds are mainly pre-fixe dinners that start at $65/per person! The only place we ate was at the "Cafe", located on the second floor of the Casino, who served pretty decent food at reasonable prices and breakfast all day long. Definitely an older crowd with no night life available. The outdoor pool was a pleasant surprise with nice friendly service and a pretty decent Strawberry Daiquiri. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and clean. Some hotel guests suggested going to Harrahs to eat, but we're big fans of The Tropicana, and spent most of our time there. Overall, the hotel wasn't terrible, but compared to all of its other surrounding casinos, it seemed old, at times quiet, empty and just not what you would expect from a 2008 Casino nowadays. They need to get with the times!
