“Very nice stay with Trump Marina”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

Stayed here in July on the 11th floor, the staff was very friendly doing the check in. First impression of the lobby was it seemed a little old, definitely from another time, but still clean.

The room was very surprising on the other hand, looked very new, stylish decor and very clean. The bathroom wasn't old looking either and I had no problems with water pressure.

On the 5th floor they have a "recreational deck" where you can play basketball, tennis and such, but you also get a very cool view of Borgata right across the busy street, Harrah's to the right with their new, cool tower that displays animations and the boardwalk skyline to the left.

The pool was always busy with people, but the casino and public areas were always a bit empty. Mostly an older crowd here.

Not too many dining options, there's the buffet, but I ate at The Cafe which was very nice. There's also a Hooters and Auntie Anne's.

Overall, Trump Marina seems to be the cheapest in the marina district and it's a great deal for what you're getting. Sign up for the Trump card for free parking, same for Harrah's or you can walk there since there's a walkway from Trump Marina.

“Friendly”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

Jul 21, 2008

What Trump Marina lacks is modernization. The Casino is stuck in 1977 and the lack of restaurants/buffets is terrible. The few restaurants it holds are mainly pre-fixe dinners that start at $65/per person! The only place we ate was at the "Cafe", located on the second floor of the Casino, who served pretty decent food at reasonable prices and breakfast all day long. Definitely an older crowd with no night life available. The outdoor pool was a pleasant surprise with nice friendly service and a pretty decent Strawberry Daiquiri. The hotel staff was really friendly and helpful. The rooms were very nice and clean. Some hotel guests suggested going to Harrahs to eat, but we're big fans of The Tropicana, and spent most of our time there. Overall, the hotel wasn't terrible, but compared to all of its other surrounding casinos, it seemed old, at times quiet, empty and just not what you would expect from a 2008 Casino nowadays. They need to get with the times!

“Sunday night at the Trump Marina”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

We needed a clean comfortable room to visit with some friends over dinner and gamble a little. The $89 AAA rate was key.

We read that the Trump Marina had been sold and knew that with the property in transition we would be taking a bit of a chance, but felt that for one night it would be okay and it was. Okay that is. Nothing more or less.

The staff is very friendly and the property is clean, but maintenance is definitely an issue. Our room, as well as our friends' room, had no cold water in the bathroom sink. The pool area was clean, but the water didn't look too clean. The place just has a downhill kind of feeling, I guess.

The casino is quiet and does attract an older crowd, but that could be due to the high number of penny and nickel slots. Monday morning at checkout was very quiet other than a few seniors at the slot machines.

The seafood buffet at $26 per person was very, very good. The food was fresh and plentiful. Unlimited crablegs, and shrimp, among the rest. We took advantage of the cabs and visited the other bayside casinos.

Our research said that the management company that purchased the property will be turning it into something called Margaritaville. Won't be anymore $89 rooms after that I guess!
In the meantime, if you want a clean room at a very reasonable price, the Trump Marina is the place to go.

“Terrible hotel”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

1 of 5 stars
New Jersey
Jul 15, 2008

We stayed at the Trump Marina recently. We had a show to watch at the Borgota but the Borgota was too expensive so we decided to stay at the Marina. Now we wish we had spent the extra $150 difference to stay at the Marina. What a difference in the two hotels. We stayed in a room that had a connecting door. The people stayed next door were so loud and we could not sleep all night. We called security at 2 am and they told them to quiet down but after 15 mins the people were laughing and screaming all night. We could hear everything through the connecting doors.

The bathrooms were in terrible shape. The hotel has not been maintained at all and is falling apart.

Would never stay there again.

“Trump Needs to Get off His Rump and Fix Up this Dump”

Trump Marina Hotel and Casino

Okay, I enjoy being direct in my reviews, maybe it is my ducky nature. My buddy and I recently stayed in this hotel last month on a Saturday night. We paid $259/night which was about $50 cheaper than Harrahs and $100 cheaper than Borgata. We split the cost of the room which amounted to about $145/person including tax.

Location - stinks, off of the boardwalk and a dangerous walk to Borgata. There is not too much going on in this area. If you want to cab it to Borgata, it will cost about $8 including tip. I found that the Jitneys ran off schedule.

Rooms - nicer than expected but I guarantee Trump would not stay in one of them. The shower had poor water pressure and the bed was not too comfortable. However, it was clean and okay for one night. Maintenance did promptly respond after I flooded the bathroom while taking a shower.

Food - Hooters, that is about it. There is a restaurant that looks like it was converted from one of the meeting rooms. Better to cab to the Borgata or the boardwalk.

Gambling: There is no poker room at this hotel. Poker players beware! I had to go to Harrahs to play poker. If you are interested, contact me for one heck of a bad beat story :)

Parking: $5 if you are not a Trump card holder. Get your card and save $5.

Travel Duck Tips - The best part of this hotel is that it is an $8 cab ride to Borgata. I highly recommend Bobby Flay Steak at the Borgata. I am not a steak eater - tried the shrimp scampi which was incredible. My friend enjoyed his steak. Try the bars at the Borgata after dinner - they were hopping with a lively crowd past 3:00 am.

More Travel Duck Tips - Go check out the new Caesars shops and restaurants which lead out to the ocean. It is like a mall which extends out over the Atlantic. Go to the end and you feel like you are on cruise ship without the seasickness. I highly recommend stopping off for a Starbucks coffee, grab a chair with a sea view. There are a ton of restaurants to choose from there too.

Last and final travel duck tip: If you are deciding between the Sheraton and this hotel go with the Sheraton. I have stayed at both hotels and can assure you the Sheraton is more modern, nicer rooms, and walking distance to boardwalk and outlets. I have found the price between the two hotels are similar and less than boardwalk hotels on popular weekend summer nights.

Enjoy Atlantic City everyone. As always, if you have additional questions (or compliments) feel free to contact me. TD
