very nice hotel.
clean and furnished with style.
We had the Aquaroom, which was amazing with the bath in the middle of the room.
Unfortunately it was noisy as we had the view on the street and there is a night club not far from the hotel.

Having searched many websites and Trip Advisor, we found the New Majestic as about the only Boutique Hotel in Singapore. Having booked it, we then found some reviews in some high end magazines, so hoped we would not be dissapointed. We were not!
We booked a Premier Garden Room (outdoor bath). Whilst there was no view from the terrace (we were no expecting one and I do not think the purpose of an the outdoor bath is not to look at the traffic...), it was in fact a great spot to relax. The room had a big shower with a variety of types of water sprays from the top and the middle of the shower. There was a LCD TV at the foot of the bed and also in the rooms were the most comfortable bath robes ever... (we even tried to purchase one, but, unfortunately they did not have our size).
You can reach anything easily in Singapore by Taxi, although, we did fnd ourselves shuffling between the Raffles Plaza area and the Hotel on a few occasions. However, the happiness of staying at a boutuqey style of hotel out won the extra couple of taxi rides. The staff were always helpful and happy. Also, when I asked if I could use the internet I was delighted to be given an Apple MacBook just to borrow, which they said "just bring back when you are finished"! This was perfect as there was WIFI throughout the hotel lobby and in our rooms.
We did not use the pool, although only because of a lack of time.... However, it was a cool design in that the bottom of the pool has circular windows over the restaurant!
Overall, a great hotel to use as a base! Breakfast was substantial and the room was spotless. The rooms are all themed and we had the big goldfish room (photos attached). It made for an enjoyable stay and we would happily stay there next time in Singapore.
Although I have read not-so-nice reviews abt this hotel, I've decided to be brave; given that awards this hotel have received.
Turns out it was an excellent move! The staffs were absolutely brilliant! I requested for a particular room and was advised it wasn't available until a certain date. I actually re-scheduled my trip and ended up staying an extra day.
Hotel rooms are generally smaller in Singapore (I suppose because land is scarce). The New Majestic hotel employ artistic props to make as if the room is bigger than it truly is!
During my Singapore trip I also stayed at The Scarlet. Room at The New Majestic is definitely more spacious than The Scarlet.
Of course I love the Khiel bathroom products :) Bed was Oh-SOOoooo-Comfortable! So almost couldn't get out of it!
LOVE the internet access available in the room & the Ipod Deck
Only street parking is available (even if you don't drive/ rent a car, if you have visitors who drive the visitor will have to find street parking)
Location: it is in Chinatown of Singapore, very interesting cultural experience but if it is shopping Orchard Rd you are after this hotel isn't a stroll away from Orchard! Taxis & public transportation are very easily available in Singapore though
I have just completed my fourth stay at the New Majestic over a six week period. Each time I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay. I have tried three different rooms types each with its own unique decoration and quite different layouts.
Although some rooms are small (relative to some of the bigger properties in SIngapore), they are well laid out and maximise use of available space.
The toiletries and bedding were top notch (particularly the quilt which was appropriately light for the tropical environment that Singapore is), and the airconditioning relatively quiet. The breakfast, whilst not offering the huge spread that many hotels offer, was simple, fresh and met my needs for a quick, light breakfast before heading to the office, similar to that I would have at home.
The hotel staff have been friendly and courteous and I was warmly greeted everytime I entered/left the hotel - perhaps because they began to recognise me! I do like the location close to Chinatown, less than 100m from Outram Park MRT and only a short walk from areas such as Club St and Tanjong Pagar, and a lot more peaceful than staying somewhere like Orchard Rd.
As far as facilities go, they are commensurate with the size of the hotel. I have enjoyed a meal at the restaurant and drinks/snacks at the lively Majestic bar.
Another positive is inclusions - such as breakfast, internet, (soft) minibar & local calls reduce the add-ons, and even laundry reasonably priced.
Downside? (some) smallish rooms, a little noise if staying on the bar side of the hotel, and perhaps not having the infrastructure that a large hotel provides.
In summary, if you are after a decadent 5 star experience, lavish breakfast, palatial rooms and massive swimming pool then I'd recommend staying elsewhere. If you're after a modern, attractively designed boutique hotel with non-obtrusive but personal service and close to but not right in the middle of Singapore hustle and bustle - I'd thoroughly recommend the hotel.
The New Majestic is a very trendy hotel, with a cool mix of design classics and funky furniture. We had an attic room with 2 deep baths in the middle of the room. Looked great, but there was not enough hot water to fill them both! it took us 3 attempts. When we mentioned it to the GM he seemed like he was told it alot but couldn't do much about it. The room was nice, but had too much furniture in it making it feel smaller than it was. The staff were excellent and the included breakfast was very nice. Located in Chinatown is not the best location in our opinion. It's a nice hotel but in our view there is better in Singapore, namely the Naumi and much cheaper.
