FAMILY HOTEL with a difference! Are you searching for a way to get back and forth to Asia with your kids? Look no further. With one, two or three kids we have traveled throughout the US, Europe, the Middle East and now Indonesia, and with fifteen years of family-travel experience I can say that we've never had a hotel as nice as this one for the money. It's actually a very professional business hotel, but they accommodate families with such grace you think that's all they do. You can't go wrong here. The first thing that strikes you is the lovely fragrance flooding the lobby. Everything is pleasant, neat, artistic, very feng shui. The staff are extremely efficient and courteous. Our room was expansive and we had more than enough space for two adults and three growing children ages 13, 9 and 8. Best of all is the buffet dinner! Don't miss it. Usually when you think of buffet you think of leftover food the chef is trying to get rid of. Not so here. This is a place where Singaporeans come to dine, because they know it's great food at a great price. Absolutely delicious. And my wife and I are very picky, mostly vegetarian and macrobiotic eaters, and we are sensitive to things like MSG and preservatives (get reactions, etc.). But I stuffed myself to the gills and felt full of energy that night and the next day. The famous Maxwell Market is great - if you can tolerate high levels of MSG. At the Novotel you won't miss Maxwell; what a selection of foods: sushi (so delicate and flavorful), beef, selections of fish, scallops on the shell, shrimp, soups, cheeses and breads, and desserts galore. All gourmet standard. Everything extremely fresh - it was a work of art. I'm now spoiled and I don't think I can accept anything less anymore. And the cost was about US $25 per adult, very cheap because guests at the hotel get a big discount. Just to give you an idea of my experiences, my two other favorite hotels are the Bristol in Vienna and Annahotel in Munich, both great, but Novotel Clarke Quay rivals and surpasses them in many ways. And did I mention the view? Just check out the gazillion photos on this website.
