We arrived early one morning and left early again the next morning after spending 6 weeks in Europe. We stayed in Singapore for 5 nights on the way to Europe at Traders Hotel just off Orchid Road. We arrived at the Novotel around 6am and we were told our room wouldnt be ready for a while but if we wanted to upgrade we could have a room straight away. We decided just to wait as the hotel wasnt cheap to start with. We asked if we could lay by the pool and they said that wouldnt be a problem. They held our luggage and we went and sleept on the pool loungers. My husband checked around 9:30 and they had a room ready. It was a lovely corner room - larger than Traders. The curtains were really good and darkened the room enough for us to have a sleep. The shower was a little odd in that it didnt hang very high - it was around hip height so you had to hold it in your hand the whole time. Hard when you wanted to wash hair as when you hung it on the little hook water would hit the wall and splash out of the bath and on the floor. The area around Clarke Quay was dead during the day but at night it really lit up. We didnt eat at the hotel as it was very pricey. When we checked out they tried to charge mini bar foods but we hadnt had any and house keeping had only come to check the mini bar about 5 hours after we checked in to the room. They got us to sign a form to remove the charges. The lady on reception was nice about it though. Overall it was a nice hotel but lacked a little warmth. Clarke Quay also didnt offer much excitement during the day where as the Traders was a couple minutes walk from Orchid Road.
