It took five planes to get to Boracay and we were really ready to relax at Dave's Straw Hat. Daves is off the beaten path and so it was the kind of place my husband and I like. Dave's is very quiet and layed back. At first I was a little dissapointed in the room as it was small and plain, but it was clean and had air conditioning, also a nice size refrigerator to keep cold beers. After the first night I understood why Dave's is #1 on Trip Advisor. You become MESMERIZED by the place. I'm sure it is the ambience of the gardens, plants and lighting. The staff at Daves is incredible. They were always ready to help with anything that you needed. We ate dinner two nights at Daves and it felt more like home cooking than eating out. It was delicious and very relaxing! One night we came in after eating dinner at one of the many restaurants on White Beach and even though I'm sure the kitchen was closed, we asked the sweet girls that work there for banana splits. In ten minutes they brought them to our room and they were yummy!
It is only a short walk to white beach (you are not beach front) If you want a party atmosphere than Daves would not be for you. If you want privacy and great service you should try Daves. By the way when it is time to head back home let the girls at the desk set it up for you. It really made the trip to the boat dock and airport a breeze!

My stay in Dave's was a wonderful experience. The atmosphere fostered by the staff was one of a family environment in which the guests felt like they were staying with a group of relatives during holiday season. Unlike most places where security has to get used to your face just to let you thru the gate, the staff here know you and know you by name from the moment you walk in the door. They can be a guiding hand to first time tourist such as myself or can allow you your own personal space if that's what you prefer, but the point is, they know what they are doing well enough to determine that quite expediently. I know that my experiences were shared by several other guests, because the atmosphere of comradery was such a daily part of my stay there, that I got to know several of my neighbors in other rooms and was able to chat with them and staff on a daily basis. While we all travel for numerous subjective reasons, during a three week stay there I witnessed many types of travelers come and go and the staff at Dave's was able to impress all those I spoke with. I found it impossible to stray away from the resort without breakfast as well, as the lure of breakfast smells in the morning ensured that I enjoyed incredible food on a daily basis. Daves is an excellent place with the feel of a bed and breakfast. The rooms were impressive for such low rates!!!! Super clean and attended daily. The whole place is surrounded by a garden. It is Just Awsome!!!!!!! IF you are looking for a quiet,cosy, private place away from the noise and comotion of the partys etc.....Daves is the place, and its a few seconds walk from the beach. The staff are wonderfull and super friendly even freckles was very accomodating. The food was great in taste and price, i was quite impressed with the quality almost gourmet, you will be amazed what comes out of such a small kitchen. Absolutely Happy with my experience. Daves Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We had a great stay at Dave's. The staff treats you like family. Anything we needed they helped us. The staff is awesome. Our daughter loved Jenny. Dave and Janet are there everyday as well. It is so nice to feel so at home when you travel half way across the world. The rooms are very clean. The grounds are beautiful. It truely is a hidden gem. We highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a very reasonable priced, family friendly place to stay.
