was in Hong Kong in November of 06
and was in a hotel somewhat off the beaten path with minimal
standards of service and a mediocre room

Walking through Central I came upon the LKF and was thoroughly impressed with the hotel
from the point of booking .to check in ,to the personalized escort to the room (Great staff esp Marco)
The breakfast provided with room was excellent and I found at all times the highest degree of friendliness and sincere interest in seeing that my stay was enjoyable
the rooms have excellent views and the amenities are great
welcome basket of fruit and milk and cookies each night as i recall
a little pricey but to this 25 year veteran of the hotel business i suggest you give the LKF a try
My next stay in Hong Kong will include a return to the LKF

“Hong Kong Chic”

I have been to Hong Kong many times but this visit decided to stay somewhere different. This relatively new boutique hotel is great and I would certainly stay here again.

This ultra modern Hotel LKF is in the heart of busy and noisy district of Lan Kwai Fong on Hong Kong Island with its many bars and restaurants and art galleries. Other reviewers have mentioned noise from below but I had no such problem, and I was there over a weekend. It certainly satisfied my favorite pastime, eating, with numerous restaurants in this area and the nearby Soho area.

However if you have never been to Hong Kong before and want views of the harbour and want a pool then this hotel wont be for you. But if you have been to Hong Kong before and want to stay in the hustle and bustle of art galleries, restaurants and bars then this is your place.

Ask for a corner room with New York type views of the high rise buildings. The rooms are large and ultra chic with huge flat screen TV, electric controlled curtains and a large and spacious bathroom. It is furnished in the Philppe Starck type style.

On the top two floors, 29th & 30th floor, is the location of the restaurant and breakfast place with great views and harbour glimpses and an outdoor terrace rooftop.

“Over-rated; a shame as could be great”

Stayed in 2 different rooms as was in/out of HK over course of 10 days in April/May. Second-stint was a suite, which cost almost as much as any luxury hotel room in HK. A suite it wasn't, just a normal room with another half-room bolted on with lots of empty/dead space. There was no-where to put my suitcase or unpack except against a wall miles from the dressing area near the main door. The closet, on other side of the room was squashed into the desk/work area. Despite this design flaw, someone did ensure there were 3 TVs throughout the suite. As other people have mentioned, it can be very noisy - the suite is a corner room facing Wyndham Street, so less noisy than the rooms facing LKF. I had an early arrival and room not ready, so I had to pace throughout HK for a few hours in the morning (not a big problem but a place to shower or get changed would have been nice). Similarly, when I departed for evening flight and wanted to change from sweaty clothes/suit I was offered use of the staff loo, which required finding someone to get a key -- there isn't even a washroom in the lobby, let alone a changing room. I heard 2 different customers complain that their fancy shower was leaking water throughout the bathroom. My gripe is that I almost killed myself by crashing into some silly glass partition in the middle of the bathroom. For these prices, the hotel's accommodation is inexcusible. Oh, and the coffee is horrendous. It's a great location and could be a great little hotel. I cannot recommend it.

“Fancy hotel but for me fell short of expectations”

LKF Hotel by Rhombus

I stayed here for two nights for a business trip on a colleague's recommendation. For 1880 HKD per night I was expecting five star. This is my experience.

Taxi driver knew where the hotel was so no problems getting there. The hotel is actually on a corner on Wyndham Street and easy to miss. I would describe the hotel as a boutique hotel, not a big flashy monster like the Hilton, Hyatt or Marriott etc.

I arrived at around 12pm and the reception area is small but friendly. However I was told my room was not yet ready as the check-in time was 2pm. That has never happened to me before, but then again, for a boutique hotel in a small-ish building with i presume limited number of rooms, they would be forgiven for this. Went up in the tiny lifts to the bar for a cocktail and nibbles. Nice drinks and good food but very expensive. One cocktail and onion rings set me back about £25 - about 300 Hong Kong Dollars. Then reception sent up a guy to tell me that, actually, my room would not be ready unti 3.15pm. That certainly has never happened to me in a hotel before. I was kind of expecting them to give me a free drink or something to make up for it. Though the guy was incredibly friendly and polite, I got nothing at all. This was rather annoying as I bet if I was an hour late for checking out they wouldn't think twice about charging me an extra fee. So I went shopping in the pouring rain while they sorted out the room.

Came back at 3.30pm and the room was ready. As I walked in the cleaner was running out - they must have had a busy day or something. Rooms were of a decent size for HK. Had a nightmare trying to get the internet working but turned out it was my PC not their connection that was at fault. However, I was passed between four different people when I was enquiring about the net, and when the manager said he would send somebody up, nobody showed up and the manager had gone home. The promotional literature did say broadband is in every room. They didn't mention that it was 150 HKD per 24 hours to actually use it. They should be a bit more upfront about this kind of charge.

Rooms are nice, of decent size and well designed. Plush leather, large king size beds, leather coach, huge LCD TV, well designed workdesk. The bathroom is very nice indeed with free water and Molton Brown toiletries. Bath was deep and shower attachment powerful. Note there is no walk in shower. Only thing that puzzled me was that above the bath there is a huge window with great views of Hong Kong. However - not sure if it is one way or not, so pulled down the blinds before getting naked! Also, not sure of the point of the glass between the sink and the toilet. Think they did it to look fancy. The volume control for the bathroom TV speaker was broken and was exposed which cannot be all that safe in a bathroom.

Storage space is sufficient too. Curtains as thick though a little tough to pull with the cord.

The air conditioning is rather noisy and I couldn't leave it on all night as I wouldn't be able to sleep, so i left it switched off. The room temperature was just right in any event.

Ordered room service, usual burger and chips, which was nice and tasty though would question whether it is worth 190 HKD.

I was on the 17th floor and be warned the area is not quiet. The hotel is right next to Lan Kwai Fong (hence the name of the hotel), and I coul dhear thumping bass resonating through my pillow all night long. Still, I had a good night's sleep in a very comfy large bed.

Location wise, you're right in the middle of central HK. Location could not really be any better. Lan Kwai Fong and all the flash shops like Luis Vitton and the Landmark Shopping Centre are almost on your doorstep.

Overall, tthe staff here are extremely friendly, and will refer you by name wherever you go which is a great touch. I think this hotel sells itself on service and style. However, as friendly and stylish as it may be (and it's not that difficult to be nice to people and stick bits of leather and glass here and there), for the price, it was let down by the check-in problems. It would not have been a problem at all had they even simply offered a free drink while I waited (its not the same if you have to ask for it yourself) but they didn't so unfortunately I will remember this hotel for that especially as, for 1880 HKD per night, there are many other choices in central HK.

We stayed at the Hotel LKF by Rhombus in Hong Kong and absolutely loved it! The staff were fantastic and helpful, and the accommodation was spacious, spotless and really cool. The location was fantastic, centrally located on Wyndham Street alongside all the happening restaurants, and the bar and club area of Lang Kwai Fong (which, by the way, did not disturb us in any way, it was very quiet!) The surrounding areas, particularly Hollywood Rd, Lyndhurst Terrace and groovy Soho are all within walking distance. So too is the more commercial Central shopping area. I thought it was the best launch pad to see Hong Kong Island and what makes this place tick, and will definitely be staying there again.
