Stayed in this hotel in August 2006 stopping over on the way to Australia. The hotel is a little out of the way however is very near to a metro station for access to the main sites. The hotel was clean and modern and there is an office on the first/mezzanine floor where you can book day trips which we found extremely useful as we couldn't find anywhere else we could book trips, although I guess we were looking in the wrong places!
Room was quite small but big enough for a couple who did little else in the room except sleep. The view was lovely and overall the hotel was great.

“Great experience at Metropark hotel”

My family and I Stayed here from July 31st through August 3rd and could not have been more pleased with the hotel. Booked hotel directly through the hotel's website, after taxes and fees ended up being around 160/night. Upon arrival our room was upgraded to a suite. The size of the suite was good, plenty of room for my wife, our two children (ages 4&6) and me. The only thing I would change was the bed size, we ended up with two single beds which was a bit of a tight squeeze, would have been nice to maybe have a pull out sofa.
Great shower, with good water pressure. The rest of the room was nice, in the suite there was a PC with standard MS programs. Also, had broadband connection for our laptop. One tiny gripe would be the lack of wireless, but that's just splitting hairs.

The rest of the hotel was nice as well. The rooftop pool was great! Amazing views of both Hong Kong and Kowloon both during the day and, especially during the night. We also made use of the breakfast buffet each morning. This was the first stop on a 2 week trip so we were pretty budget conscious, as such the buffet was a convenient; pretty cheap, with a decent mix of Chinese and Western food.

We found the service to be great. We treated staff with respect (something that I think most people who complain about service fail to do) and were treated with respect in return. As noted above, our room was upgraded voluntarily, at breakfast our kids were not charged and one of the adult buffet's were discounted 30% as I had only paid for one breakfast per day when booking the room. Concierge answered all of our questions and provided good advice.
Lastly, I really enjoyed the location. Because we were traveling as a family we did not want to stay in a location with a lot of bars and/or nightlife. The metropark was just far enough from the busier areas while still easily accessible if needed (the MTR station was a short, 4 minute, walk from the hotel. Also, Victoria park adjacent to the hotel was a nice place to walk with the kids.

Overall, really enjoyed the metropark hotel. Good room, service and location.

I stayed 3 nights at this hotel and could not be more pleased with the room and the service. The hotel staff are corteous and efficient. The concierge was very helpful in giving travel tips. The room was small but clean and comfortable. There was a converter in one of the drawers, which was a blessing when I needed to charge my cellphone. The gym and pool were excellent and had gorgeous views of Victoria Park. The hotel has a free shuttle that takes you to the shopping area and convention center. There's free internet access on the 2nd floor (business center) and also at the public library a few blocks away. I found it easy to walk to various MTR stations and to walk to the shopping area. There's a grocery store down the street from the hotel, which made it very convenient to buy water and snacks. I would definitely stay at this hotel again.

“Fine hotel, good location, service so-so”

Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay Hong Kong

We stayed at the Metropark Causeway Bay for 3 nights at the end of our honeymoon in May 2008 (the rest of the honeymoon was spent in Australia). We booked on the hotel website mainly based on the high marks the hotel got on Tripadvisor. It seemed to be the best value available on a decent room in a good location with a good view.
We had booked a nonsmoking harbour view room - when we checked in at about 5PM, they said they did not have a room on a nonsmoking floor available. We had to wait in the lobby for about 15 minutes for the room to be serviced, and then when we got to the room we found it had 2 double beds despite asking for a queen bed (and mentioning it was our honeymoon). So we went back to the lobby and had to wait another 15 - 20 minutes for a nonsmoking harborview room with a queen bed to be made available to us. They apologized for the delay, but didn't offer any additional perks to make it up to us or do anything to recognize our honeymoon.
Once we finally got settled into our room, our stay was fine. The room was small and the bed fairly hard, but I gather that is standard for HK. The furnishings were high quality and made the most of the limited space. The room was serviced daily and kept very clean. The location is nice - adjacent to an MTR (subway) station and streetcar line (makes it a convenient base of operations), and there are a number of fine restaurants in the blocks right around the MTR station. The room had a nice view overlooking Victoria Park and the harbour, and the view from the rooftop pool area is especially spectacular.
Overall we were pretty happy with the hotel, and despite the problems on check-in we'd consider staying here again next time we are in HK. We were not as impressed as a lot of the other reviewers on Tripadvisor, though.

“Poor quality cheap smelly room”

Metropark Hotel Causeway Bay Hong Kong

Overall this hotel was below par for me. See my other hotel reviews and you will see the benchmarks to which review hotels. I arrived at 5pm ad everything seemed fine and the guy confirmed my room was ready. His colleague looked at the computer and they said I would need to wait a while (and this was 5pm), but they did give me a free beer while I waited so was not too bothered. Fifteen minutes later they told me the room was ready and I was given one on the 7th floor.

I booked my trip through [--] (also known as Travelocity), and paid for a non-smoking harbour view room. The room, when I got there, was on one of the lower floors. I can only assume travel agents like lastminute.com are reserved the lower floors because of the low prices they get away with. The room was tiny (about 20 sq m). The bathroom is a major disappoitment as there is no bath except for a dirty looking shower area. Parts of the bathroom had large stains across the tiles and the toiletries were minimal.

The room was old and outdated with 60's faded carpet. What annoyed me the most was that they gave me a smoking room which I did not notice until the guy next door went into his room during the night and lit up. The smell simply wafted straight into my room and ruined my night's sleep. Next morning noticed an ashtray and matches on the work desk so assumed they had given me smoking room despite having paid for non-smoking. My night's sleep was ruined further as within half an hour of getting into bed got bitten by something. The room looks absolutely nothing like the photos on their website. Think more - basic "Hoiday Inn Express" on a motorway.

The room gives half of a harbour view. The other half is filled with buildings. The harbour is also quite far away but you can still view the sea. Not exactly what I would call a genuine hrbour view though.

The price came included with broadband internet which was one f the reasons I chose it as I was on a business trip. To me complimentary broadband means you can leave it on 24/7, however not true here. The session time is limited before you are logged off and have to log on again.

The TV in the room was an old Toshiba portable and the picture quality fuzzy. I think had about 15 or so channels. The TV did however provide room information though was even fuzzier than the television channels.

Could not comment on the food service as there was no menu or room information in my room and the info was not on the TV.

On the plus side, there is a MTR and quite a few local shops in the area and I suppose you could walk to the harbour (25 minutes walk I would guess). Also, the service was friendly. The room rate obtained through lastminute.com was also good - £300 for 4 nights, which for Causeway Bay, is cheap.

However, I could not help thinking that because I had booked through [--] and got a cheap price, they gave a rubbish room.

I would not stay here again - think would rather stay by the Kowloon harbour in much much more comfort and better value. If you want to email me for confirmation that this was bad - feel free. I would pay a bit more for a better hotel.
