Booked through BA hotline travel cause i got a good rate!
I was hesitating about the area and the true is that is quite away of all the fun,bar,restaurants and shops!
Its in a local market area in western Hong Kong district....So location wise is not central at all...the only shops around it are local dry fish stores...so you get the strong fishy smell!
The hotel is modern and clean...no smells whatsover as soon as you enter...the staff are friendly and make you feel welcomed!
The only problem we had was sleeping on those really hard matresses so If you dont like hard matresses or have any back problem issues though DONT book it!
They tried to help us by making the beds more soft by adding extra matresses on top...didn't make a big difference...they even offered to upgrade us for free on an executive floor room.
I have to admit that they did whatever they could to assist...and they even let us keep the room and have a very late check out at 8pm for free.
The rooms are quite small but clean and most of them with harbour views.If you want views on a standard rate room ask for rooms on a higher floor ( 20th to the 25th and rooms for example 2001-2008) as they are at the front overlooking the harbour and the city!
We used taxis a lot to go everywhere as its quite cheap and outside was so hot and so humid...for example to go to Causeway Bay which is at the other side of Hong Hong and the furthest you will need to go ,where is a major shopping area we paid around 35 to 40 HK dollars and it only takes 10 minutes depending on the traffic.
The best way to go to the hotel from the airport is to take the Airport express train to Hong Kong, it takes 25 minutes and from Hong Kong station just get a tax,its less than 5-10min ride around 30 to 40 HK dollars including your luggage cost to the hotel!
For me the only negative was the location!!
So overall if you like downtown action in your feet dont book it!!

Nice, clean but small rooms. We stayed on the 18th floor and had an interesting view of the surrounding neighborhood. Hotel is modern with good, prompt service but its location near the fish markets makes for some nice smells. We found their free shuttle useful to get to other transit stations, so that was a nice amenity. Business centre is very nice and has good PCs for rent - another nice bonus. I'd stay there again.

Have just returned from a very enjoyable 5 night stay at Island Pacific Hotel with my Husband and two teenage children. Rooms good size with fantastic floor to ceiling views of the Harbour and Kowloon. Marble bathrooms and very clean and comfortable beds. Rooms have fridge, safe, hairdryer, complimentary toiletries and free morning paper. Free access to hotel outdoor pool and air conditioned gym. Staff very helpful and Free courtesy bus from hotel to various 'key' locations in Hong Kong a bonus! Hotel is walking distance of tram stop (located on Des Vouex Road West). Were given free welcome drink on arrival - nice touch. Were able to request a late check-out, at no additional charge, which is great when returning to the UK on a late evening flight! Would highly recommend this hotel.

We booked it through British Airways and paid £120 for a three night stay on our way home from a three week trip around Australia. Value for money wise its an excellent hotel. Our room had a harbour view and although it was a bit small we only slept in it because we spent all day out and about in the Olympic fever of Hong Kong Island and Kowloon. The rooms are clean, quiet and with daily maid service. What more do you want for 40 quid a night in downtown Hong Kong!!!

Buses and trams stop right outside although they do take a while to get through the Hong Kong traffic. The nearest subway stop is about 15 minutes walk away. We found it best to use taxis especially in the evenings when the roads are much quieter. Taxis to Central cost about £1.50 and Wanchai is about £2 and Causeway Bay is about £3. Kowloon is about £5.

Hong Kong is a fantastic place and the Island Pacific is not a bad place to see it from.
