Stayed at the Grand Millenium in BKK from the 27.02.2008-01.03.2008.
This was my first time in BKK and after reading many reviews here on tripadvisor I decided to give the GM a try as it's one of the newest additions to the many 5 star hotels in Bangkok. I didn't regret my choice at all. Altough there is always a traffice jam in the Sukhumvit area the skytrain station Asoke was just a 5 min walk from our hotel and it's the best way to get around the city centre.
We checked into the hotel around lunch time and could get to our room immediately. As I spent almost 1 1/2 in the stuffy taxi from the airport I was glad to be able to go the room. Check-in staff was nice and efficient and you felt truly welcomed there. Everything is brand new and looks great from the inside and outside. We had our room on the 9th floor and the room is just great. It's quite large for a standard room, has very good beds, flatscreen tv (with many tv channels in 5 languages), a large desk, big bathroom and rainshower etc.
Everything worked and was spotless just as expected from a good hotel. Breakfast was included in our room rate and was served on the 2nd floor in the hotel restaurant. The selection was really huge and quite good. You had fresh fruits, thai food, western food, japanese food, dim sum, pancake stand, salad, cold meat, cheese etc etc. The quality was not bad however the fruits were not so ripe and therefore not always tasty which I find surprising considering that the fruits are all local. However that's one very small detail.
I tried out the spa which was splendid. Everything is nicely decorated, the privaterooms are well designed, the staff is friendly and one can choose from many different treatments including the traditional thai massage. I found the prices were quite cheap and it was really good value for money.
Also the hotel offers individual tours to many attractions in Bangkok. We booked 2 tours with them and everything went smoothly. We had a tour of the Golden Buddha, Emerald Buddha, the palace and also a tour of the floating market which is about 1 hour by car from Bangkok and leaves already at 07.30AM.
To sum it up:
-great value for money
- very good hotel
-very nice furnished
-good location
-great spa
-nice staff
