Just came back from a week's stay at Shangri-La. Great location, handy to both the Skytrain & Central Peir. I consider myself to be a discerning traveller & therefore can be very critical of my accomodation. I will definetly stay here again.
The staff are extremely friendly, as are most people in Thailand & always willing to assist.
As Bangkok is such a hectic place I enjoy looking over the Chao Praya - River watching the hive of activity happening there rather than the traffic jams happening elsewhere around the place.
Rooms are well presented & spacious. Fresh platters of fruit daily & complimentary water twice daily.
Breakfast is fantastic with such an array of so much delicious food. A great way to start the day.
The only drawback I can think of is the formality of going to one of their restaurants of a night. If you are a male you have to wear long trousers after 6.30pm.
Nice Pool & Pool Bar was good. Drinks comein plastic tumblers unless you request Glass & could be slightly colder.
Salathip (Their Thai Restaurant is in a lovely setting with staff really welcoming & Thai dancers are a bit of fun) Great wait staff who upsell very well.
Also an ideal location to visit other hotel restaurants in the area such as the Peninsula, Oriental, Millenium Hilton & Le Bua is around the corner. As are local supermarkets & various street vendors, etc.
Overall an enjoyable stay.
