We stayed at the Shangri la for 3 nights in June. We were in the Shangri La wing and upgraded to a river view room with a balcony.
It was really large- with a great bathroom- also with views of the river.
The bed was really comfy- as was the sofa.
The service everywhere in the hotel was superb. It was our 20th Wedding anniversary and the hotel sent us up fresh fruit and chocolates to help us celebrate. A really nice touch.
The location is great- really close to the sky train- which is fab and cheap, also the water taxis to take you along the river- also really cheap.
You have to go through the Krungthep wing- and exit to get to the skytrain- and this was really luxurious- and made the carpet in our wing look tired and in need of replacing( But that is the only negative- which does seem a bit picky as it is much more expensive to stay in that wing)
The drinks in the pool side bar and in the mini bar are certainly 5 star prices- so if you are happy to pay these then fine- but I though £4.00 for a small bottle of Evian drinking water- a bit excessive- although you do get 2 complimentary bottles everyday.
The breakfast was really good with plenty of choice for every taste and was in a great location overlooking the river. The pool was also really nice and spotlessly clean.
We did not try any other food in the hotel- as we had other things booked- but the menu's looked quite reasonable.
I must also say that the Concierge's at this hotel were the best we have encountered anywhere- nothing was too much trouble and they could answer everything we asked.
All in all a great stay and would recommend to anyone.
