This is by far the best hotel I have ever stayed at in my entire life!! (and I'm pretty well travelled.)

I had booked the romance package for my partners birthday so we were guaranteed a riverview suite, it also included round trip 7 series transport to/from the airport, flowers, rose petal bath, canapes & champagne on arrival, some drinks at the skybar and their fantastic daily buffet breakfast.

We were greeted at the airport right away and were given water and ice cold flannels as soon as we got in the car, very refreshing when it's 30+ outside! We had a pleasant journey to the hotel where I was greeted with a bunch of flowers and we were very quickly escorted to our room to for the in suite check-in, (this is a great touch as it saves you waiting around in reception.)

The suite was beautiful and the view was amazing. I actually managed to open the balcony doors using a tip that somebody had posted previously in a review on LeBua so the view was even better.

Breakfast was lovely every morning, the selection of fresh fruits were delicious and there was a nice selection of local food as well as the usual bacon, sausages & eggs etc.

For my partners I had booked us a table Sirocco and the food here was mouth-watering, there was also a live jazz singer who sang happy birthday and he was then presented with a personalised birthday dessert.

The gym is very nice and well equipped although I have to admit that I didn't actually use the facilities and just lounged by the pool one morning.

We had no problems at all and the staff were very attentive throughout our stay. (Some people have said they felt the staff were 'over' attentive but I think that is not the case.) The service we received here was second to none.

If you are thinking about booking a stay here stop thinking about it and just do it, I'm certain you will not regret it.

We're already looking forward to our next stay here and I'm sure we will return every time we go back to Thailand!

Great hotel... Great room... Great service...
I just didn't know where we were... Since I usually stay at the Peninsula, it was hard to get my bearings. We walked around the neighborhood a bit, something you can't really do at the Peninsula being on the other side of the river, but didn't find anything of interest.
The bar and restaurant on the higher floors seemed to be quite popular. However the dress code wasn't very friendly for those of us that were headed to the beach (and didn't have anything but beachwear). Those of us with "not-so-smart" casual attire were relegated to walking a few blocks down the street to the Holiday Inn and imbibing at their lobby bar, Jameson's.
Overall, the rooms are great and with the bar/lounge and restaurant being such attractions, I'd consider staying here again.
The only thing you've got to realize when you stay at places toward the river is that you're not really close to where the action is... for that, you should stay somewhere along Sukhumvit.

I had chosen the Lebua Hotel based on the reviews I had read about it and I realized that I had done the right thing the moment I set foot on the premises. The staff was extremely polite and helpful. Although we arrived hours before the standard check in time, they took us to our room right away. We had a deluxe room at 58th floor overlooking the entire Bangkok. It was a 66 m2 room with all the goods you can get (except for an LCD/Plazma, we had 2 TV both of which are CRTs). I recommend booking the room including the breakfast which is not the widest I have seen but very satisfactory. The restaurants in the hotel are all very good but a little pricy especially for Bangkok. the bar and the restaurants in the 64th (roof floor) are a must see. The view up there is spectacular. The only downside is all the restaurants close at 1:00 am the latest. Use of all fitness, sauna and steam room facilities are complementary. The massage service is expensive though. We asked the concierge to recommend us an alternative which was not only very nice but also very clean, professional and a bargain. It is relatively close to shopping malls such as Siam Paragon and Emporium. The cab fares in Bangkok are insanely cheap so if you are not wondering around during the rush hour, it takes little time and even smaller money to go anywhere.

Not very much to add. Front desk was not impressive. No hostess escort (we had two riverview suites@ 59 floor). Lot of security all over the place, e.g. taxis trunk checked. Views outstanding, housekeeping worked niced. Will look elseware next trip.

“An oasis in Bangkok”

Lebua at State Tower

5 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada
Jul 12, 2008

My new husband and I stayed at the Lebua just a few days ago for 3 nights and it was fantastic. We had a river view suite and we signed the waiver to open the balcony doors and it was fabulous. We overlooked the river and the room was large and beautiful.

Check-in was fantastic - we were picked up at the airport quickly and effeciently and whisked up to our room where the check-in occurred by a friendly concierge woman. The 1 issue we had is that they told us that the mini bar was complimentary to us and I verified this and said "everything?" and she said yes. But we came to know that alcohol and chocolate were charged to us, we didn't want to fight with them about it as it was only about $15 CAD but really, it was the principal of it that annoyed me.

They gave us a lovely Happy Honeymoon cake, I received a HUGE bouquet of flowers as I got out of the BMW 7 series car and we had champagne, 2 glasses, 2 plates and roses waiting in our room. Amazing.

The room was spacious and the living room proved useful when I was blow drying my hair and my husband wanted to watch and actually hear the TV while he drank a beer and waited patiently. The bathroom was faultless and the housekeeping was perfect.

The staff at the Lebua were very friendly, almost too friendly as some people have mentioned but really, who can fault them on being too nice? It was just more than we were expecting but all in all, it was better than feeling ignored.

The breakfast buffet was to die for. We ate like piglets every morning after we worked out in their gym. The gym and change rooms were wonderful and the pool was nice, not large but nice enough. The breakfast buffet changed up every morning with a few staples left on their menu so some days we loved it more than others but all in all, it was amazing.

We booked a dinner at Sirocco for our last night and once we got up there, it started to rain so we were whisked inside and told that we would wait out the storm. It did stop raining within 20-30 mins or so but when we looked at the menu and the insane prices, we decided to go elsewhere. We do love nice dinners and do not mind paying $$ for good food but these prices were insane and the menu didn't actually appeal to us much.

So we had a drink while we waited and then asked the concierge for a dinner recommendation. They suggested Thanying Restaurant which is about a 10-15 min walk if you go right out the mall doors. Ask the concierge for a card and follow the map. It's on a side street that seemed a bit sketchy but once we got there, the ambience was lovely and the prices were much better than Sirocco and it was lovely Thai food.

After our Thai dinner we headed back up to Sky Bar which is beside Sirocco and we had some free drinks, with our vouchers from the hotel. The view was the best in the city and there was a jazz band playing while we drank and I grabbed my husband to dance.

We did not try the other restaurants in the hotel but if you ask the concierge, they'll give you some great recommendations. We did eat at a nice place in Patong - can't remember the name off hand but it was at the end of 1 of the side streets on the right hand side - it has a lovely wood ambience and great food.

A general note about tuk tuks - definitely negotiate a price with them and be willing to walk away as they can likely bring their price down if they think they'll lose you. And once they have you, they will try to take you to their "Sponsors" which are businesses that sell various items - souvenirs, suits, jewellery... they get free gas or money for every person they drop off, and we didn't mind helping our guy out, we went in for 10 mins and didn't buy anything but they'll try to keep taking you around and around to various places without actually taking you to where you want to go. Just be firm with them, we actually had to get a little mad and tell them that we had to catch a plane and HAD to go back to our hotel. He finally got the jist.

The sky train and ferries are near the Lebua and I think that Lebua is 1 of the best hotels for location alone, and the hotel itself is fantastic. The sky train is effecient and clean and we felt safe on it even at night coming home from Patong.

All in all our stay was amazing and we have actually booked 1 more night before we head back to Toronto on our last night in Thailand. The staff actually asked us if we wanted to have the same suite and we said that would be lovely if possible, so we'll see what we get.

You won't regret staying at the Lebua, we loved it.
