“Great Location and Excellend Water Park!!! 8 Min To Disney”

We booked a Disney view room over the Aug 9-12 weekend. The hotel room's beds were very comfortable (and new) and the room had a mircowave and a refridgerator (mini) that kept our drinks very cold for Disney. There are tall tree semi-blocking your view so if you don't mind this then get the view, otherwise, do without.

The furniture and TV in the room is still dated. We did not unpack our clothes as the drawers had that old musty drawer smell. The bathroom was dated as well but clean for the most part.

Free parking and internet unless you have a DELL computer. For some reason they aren't compatible with this network (as per the front desk).

It's a little pricey so I would stay somewhere newer next time. The disney parks themselves are very crowded at this time of the year up until 12M. I will most likely go to Disneyworld as the number of parks (incl DT Disney and the waterparks) number 7 and they are farther apart. With this many options, there are less people in the parks.

“The noisiest hotel we have ever stayed in...”

Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim / Disneyland Park

After having been awake for over 30 hours after traveling from Australia, we were disappointed to discover that our hotel room was some 20 meters away from an extremely noisy and busy 5 lane freeway. See the attached photo which shows the view from our room. The window was not adequately sound proofed and more importantly, the door leading out to the tiny balcony overlooking the freeway was not sound proofed (and this was the main avenue for the noise).

We had no idea about the noise from the freeway based on the hotel's website. We complained about the noise and were told that there were no other available rooms. A day later, after again being unable to sleep due to the noise, we complained and were moved to another room on the same side of the hotel (which was only slightly further from the freeway and therefore only slightly quieter). I know there are many other rooms in this hotel that do not face the freeway, however we were continually told that none were available (I was told that no other rooms were available at the same rate, therefore suggesting that I could pay more for a quieter room). I got the distinct impression from the hotel staff that I was being unreasonable in wanting to move hotel rooms, as though I was blowing things out of proportion. I sincerely have never been in a hotel room this loud before - it was ridiculous.

I would not recommend this hotel to anyone who likes the idea of having a quiet night's sleep after seeing the sights in Anaheim. In fact, I would strongly suggest that such people look elsewhere.

“The Best!”

Our first stay at an HJ, must say we are impressed. The hotel room was spacious, comfortable, clean, not flashy but very nice. Two pools, one for the young kids and one more adult oriented. Grounds very clean and groomed. The staff was absolutly the best, can easily say the most pleasant, helpful I have had the pleasure to stay with. Outstanding crew! The hotel is an easy walk to Disney, food and entertainment. Best review I have ever sent and we are frequent travelers.

“Just O.K..Maybe I'm just spoiled”

We have been to Disneyland 4 times in the last year and we always stay at the Paradise Pier. We heard great reviews from friends and from right here. Since it's half the price (literally half the price) we decided to give it a try and stay 3 nights at the Pier and 2 days here. This hotel is nicely landscaped, looks good from outside..Maybe we're just spoiled but I guess you get what you pay for. When we arrived the water was off until 5pm which was horrible when you need to shower 3 kids to go back for an evening of disney. The rooms were okay...handles broken off the dresser, no really big deals. OMG there was blood on the sheet in the kids' bed. Gross!!! The arcade was ok, the pool was ok, the kids liked the castaway cove the best. I feel like you leave the disney experience when you stay off site. Once you stay at a resort hotel, i guess it's hard to stay anywhere else. However, this was not a bad hotel and for the price (they gave us half off due to the whole water deal) it's o.k. We will use this as a learning experience and stay on site from now on.

“Nice...but beginning to show some age....”

This was my third stay at the Hojo's. The new Castaway Cove mini waterpark looks like a lot of fun for younger children (we didn't use it). The Garden Pool area is very nice, with the recent renovation that enlarged the decking area. On one occasion, a group of preteen dancers from New Zealand overtook the area without any adult supervision, splashing around and making a lot of noise. That was annoying.

I highly recommend staying in building 1, with a Disney view, on the 7th floor. The rooms on this floor have high vaulted ceilings with skylights that really open up the space. I took a good critical look at the furnishings in the room: while the mattresses are new (and very comfortable) the place is in desperate need of a makeover. The bedspreads, curtains, furniture...are tired and out of date. The bathroom also needs some updating. But everything was clean. We had a problem with our mini refrigerator and we were given a new one the following day.

Overall, the Hojo's is a good value for the money. The 10 minute walk to the park is tiring after a few days, but, except for the Disney properties, nothing else on Harbor Blvd. across from Disney compares to the HoJo.
