“Just O.K..Maybe I'm just spoiled”

We have been to Disneyland 4 times in the last year and we always stay at the Paradise Pier. We heard great reviews from friends and from right here. Since it's half the price (literally half the price) we decided to give it a try and stay 3 nights at the Pier and 2 days here. This hotel is nicely landscaped, looks good from outside..Maybe we're just spoiled but I guess you get what you pay for. When we arrived the water was off until 5pm which was horrible when you need to shower 3 kids to go back for an evening of disney. The rooms were okay...handles broken off the dresser, no really big deals. OMG there was blood on the sheet in the kids' bed. Gross!!! The arcade was ok, the pool was ok, the kids liked the castaway cove the best. I feel like you leave the disney experience when you stay off site. Once you stay at a resort hotel, i guess it's hard to stay anywhere else. However, this was not a bad hotel and for the price (they gave us half off due to the whole water deal) it's o.k. We will use this as a learning experience and stay on site from now on.

This was my third stay at the Hojo's. The new Castaway Cove mini waterpark looks like a lot of fun for younger children (we didn't use it). The Garden Pool area is very nice, with the recent renovation that enlarged the decking area. On one occasion, a group of preteen dancers from New Zealand overtook the area without any adult supervision, splashing around and making a lot of noise. That was annoying.

I highly recommend staying in building 1, with a Disney view, on the 7th floor. The rooms on this floor have high vaulted ceilings with skylights that really open up the space. I took a good critical look at the furnishings in the room: while the mattresses are new (and very comfortable) the place is in desperate need of a makeover. The bedspreads, curtains, furniture...are tired and out of date. The bathroom also needs some updating. But everything was clean. We had a problem with our mini refrigerator and we were given a new one the following day.

Overall, the Hojo's is a good value for the money. The 10 minute walk to the park is tiring after a few days, but, except for the Disney properties, nothing else on Harbor Blvd. across from Disney compares to the HoJo.

“Ok time”

Howard Johnson Plaza Hotel Anaheim / Disneyland Park

Let me start by saying that we travel frequently, at least 5-6 times a year. We arrived at Howard Johnson in Anaheim, chosen based on recommendations from both this site and another Disney forum that I read.

Upon arrival, we were able to go straight to our room even though we were early for check in. We went straight to the parks and came back that night. *Note - make sure you get a parking pass from the front desk when you check in. They neglected to give us one and we had a notice on our car. We needed to go back to the front desk in order to get one a few days later, where they saw that we had registered the car information upon check in.

The rooms are a good size, with queen beds instead of fulls which is a nice touch. The rooms were clean and the hotel grounds were very nice. The first night, I tried to connect to the internet. They offer free "high speed" access in all the rooms. I couldn't get online, so I called the tech support area. I spent 2 hours on the phone trying everything I could with the tech support person to be able to connect. I finally was able to get online, but it was slower than any dial up access I've ever encountered. If it was a site that required log in (such as email) then it wasn't happening. I went to the front desk who basically said that their connection was very slow. They sent out a person to bring us a new modem but he saw that we were able to get online, although slowly, and said it wasn't a good idea to try a new modem. He echoed the very slow connection speed. As a small business owner, I needed to be able to connect and my business site was blocked by the terminals in the main building. This was a definite negative for me.

The rooms were kept up nicely by housekeeping everyday. there were no issues there whatsoever.

We booked a tour at the front desk. They neglected to give me the vouchers for the bus company. Once we got back, the front desk was able to credit my account for the tour tickets with little problems.

Overall, we probably wouldn't stay here again. The internet access is a major component of our trips as I need to stay in touch. The people at the front desk were nice, but didn't follow through on processes which caused inconveniences for us.

“A very pleasant experience”

This is a good hotel located only a few minutes walk from Disneyland resort. We stayed for 4 nights and enjoyed its convenient location. It is very pretty with nice flowers all around and the rooms are a good size with lovely decor and extremely comfortable beds. We opted for a room with a Disney view and it was worth the extra money. We had a great view of the Disney fireworks each night which are spectacular to say the least. The fact that it was so close to the Disneypark meant we could, and did, easily come back to the hotel during the afternoon, after an early start in the parks to have a rest before heading back to the parks in the evening There is a shuttle bus to the parks but to be honest, it's just as quick to walk. We also liked Mimi's cafe just over the road, serving great food at reasonable prices. Their bread basket you get with every main meal is fantastic.

The only downside of Hojo's is that we found many of the female reception staff not particularly helpful. The male reception staff however were very helpful and when I complained about a couple of minor issues with our room, they fixed them straight away. They also gave me a large discount on the room rate because of the pool being renovated which I appreciated. The garden pool istill in service s quite large, but with only one pool on the property it was very crowded even quite late at night.

Another plus was the free internet computers located in reception.

overall, we liked this hotel and would recommend it.

“Loved It!”

What a great place to stay when visiting Disneyland! We visit the area frequently and keep trying new places. This is it! We're done looking.

We had a 2 queen room in building one with a Disney view. Next time, we'll skip the Disney view because there are huge pine trees blocking the view anyway. I can't say I'd like the highway view rooms though...they are really close to the highway. We'll go with a courtyard view room next time.

The new Castaway Cove looks awesome! We had great intentions of taking our kiddos in there but it was a little too windy and cool.

Our room was clean and comfy. The beds were soft and seemed pretty new. The bathroom was clean with plenty of water pressure.

Right next door is a great restaurant, Mimi's Cafe. We ate an enormous breakfast there.

I slighted them from an "excellent" rating just because our TV and remote didn't want to work together. We could have easily called for a replacement but it was already after midnight and we were leaving in the am. Also, we were only provided with one washcloth for our family of four.

All in all...excellent hotel within close proximity to the parks. We'll definitely be back soon!
