This hotel is in a terrific location, it is elegantly adorned, and the rooms are decently sized and comfortable. Sounds great, except we had a problem with the cleaning staff. Here's how it went:
My family members were staying in the room right next door. In the morning, I left the door closed, but not all the way so anyone from next door could come in. The "do not disturb" sign was on the door. At 6:30am, the maid knocked to tell me the door was open. I told her that was fine and to leave it. At 7:15, a male staff member knocked, said "your door is open," then closed it.
Fine. But it didn't stop there. With the "DND" sign on the door, the maid came back at 9am, unlocked and opened the door to clean. Again, I kindly asked her to please leave us alone.
We had arranged for a late check out, but that didn't stop staff members from knocking on the door every 15 minutes from 12:00 to 2pm, from the cleaning staff, to some repair man, to someone else. As we vacated the room at 2, a group of four staff members asked us what room we were in and if we were checking out.
The whole experience was totally ridiculous and unacceptable, and would make me say one should find a luxury hotel where staff are professional and courteous. When I called down to the front desk to request that the cleaning staff no longer knock on our door, I didn't receive any apology or really much of any response at all.
Skip. Skip. Skip.
