We wanted somewhere handy for the Christopher Street Day Parade in the centre of town and also handy for seeing friends in Schoeneberg and Kreuzberg. The Swissotel was perfect. Ideal location and extremely comfortable accommodation. Competent and cheerful staff. Ate a "surprise menu" in the dining room one evening and that too was a treat.

We stayed for three nights in June. Our room was on the 5th floor and faced out on to Ausbergerstrasse. It was spacious and had a wall of windows, so it had plentiful natural light. As expected, Swissotel uses quality linens and toiletries. The mattress was comfortable, but a little firm. Breakfast (included with our room rate) was very good. You can order omelettes from your server, if you do not want the buffet-style scrambled eggs.

As for location, it's a nice property right on one of the major intersections of the Ku'damm. It's a short walk to the Zoo station (for public transport). There are shops and restaurants adjacent to the hotel, but we tended to eat away from the Ku'damm. We especially enjoyed Mr. Hai and Friends at Savigny Platz (again a short walk from the hotel).

Overall, we had a pleasant stay, the staff was great, and we would stay again.

We stayed 3 days (and 2 nights) in Berlin for our 10th wedding anniversary. Booked with Expedia a non refundable Grand Room for £109 (no breakfast - 21 euro, even if excellent, thought we would find a little local bakery soemwhere in town for cheaper). For this price, we had the best experience ever:

Like all the previous reviews, fantastic design, extremely helpful staff (excellent english), very welcoming hotel.

Room was superb. Kindly upgraded to a Grand Room with view (over the Ku Damm). And despite this very busy street, absolutely no noise when window closed. Huge room, all office commodity (even if no use for a 10th anniversary trip!), sofa, chair, fresh fruits, hi-fi and Vivaldi CD in it.

We found the bed very comfortable (I have to mention this as some previous review said bed was not comfy). Toblerone chocolate on the top of dressing gown and fresh slippers every night.

Bathroom had a bath and a shower. Sparkling clean. Every little gorgeous details: bath salts, body cream, massage sponge, fresh flowers.

Walk in dressing room, umbrella, iron, shoe polisher etc. Lavazza espresso machine (but no other facility to have a simple cup of tea though...).

Wake up call at 4.30 in the morning as requested. Hotel booked a taxi for the airport. Very professional staff at check out even at this time of the morning.

This room made our trip to Berlin very relaxing after full days of visit (fantastic city) and shopping (great shop in Ku Damm, walking distance from hotel).

The Swissotel is right on the Ku'Dam as advertised. A great location in the centre of Berlin. It is within walking distance to one of the main railway stations (Bahnhof Zoologischer Garten) from here you can access many train lines and buses.

We had a room on the 7th floor so it was quiet and had a great view of the Ku'Dam. Other rooms looking into the atrium of the hotel are cheaper. The room was fairly big and very clean, with a shower and separate bath. We didn't eat breakfast in the hotel but it is quite expensive, especially as there are so may good places to eat on the door step (Italian - Vapiano, American - Hard Rock Cafe etc.)

Free internet access is located behind the consierge desk in the lobby (2 PC's).

There are 2 bar areas, both are really pleasant to sit in. Prices are reasonable for a hotel of this class.

There is a nice pub across the road from the hotel where you can sit inside or out, this will undoubtedly become your local!

Overall a great experience and I would recommend this hotel.

The transport system in Berlin can be difficult at times but you do get better at it in time!!

Places to visit: (a) Sachsenhausen concentration camp just outside Berlin, you will not be disappointed. (b) The Parliament Buiding, Reichstag. (c) The Brandenburger Tor & Pariser Platz. (d) The Sony Centre. (e) Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedachtnis-Kirche.

Be ready to walk alot, Berlin is pretty spread out!
