Best place to get espresso in the city? Will be there in November and would like to visit several local coffee shops/cafes. Thanks |

I'm sure you'll find differing opinions on the BEST coffee in the area, but here are some places worth visiting (some are in the suburbs, if you're willing to make the trek)... Murky Coffee (Arlington, VA - Eastern Market location in DC is now closed) Tryst (Adams Morgan, DC) Mayorga (Silver Spring, MD) M.E. Swing (downtown DC) Java House (near Dupont Circle, DC) Illy coffee (not local, but good coffee - Foggy Bottom, DC) Misha's (Old Town Alexandria, VA) Sidamo Coffee & Tea (Capitol Hill, DC)

There is also a Mayorga at Columbia Heights... though we have thought Mayorga's espresso drinks have gone downhill and their customer service is disappointing. We still buy their whole coffee beans for at home. We haven't tried Open City for coffee, but it is the same people who own Tryst. AC/KC on 14th Street (Logan Circle) has espresso and, more importantly, terrific hot chocolates. You can sit and have some nice truffles with your coffee, as well. As for Murky... be sure you don't try to order anything not on the menu.
